Crews of Russian tanks have begun to master a new tactic - a rolling barrage. Now, combat vehicles have started operating in pairs, which was not used before, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated.
One of the tanks fires from a closed firing position, while the second moves to a neutral zone to fire directly, taking into account the characteristics of the gun. The new tactic is actively used in combat and practiced at the training ground.
The most common tanks in the Russian army are the T-72B3M and T-90M "Proryv". A tank operating from closed positions will suppress fire weapons even more effectively.
Military expert Yuri Lyamin noted that drone support is very important in such actions.
They will have to adjust fire, report newly discovered targets, and also possible dangers. For example, about armored vehicles advancing to the front line.
Military analyst Alexei Lenkov added that infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers do not have such protection and a powerful gun, and it is not serious to talk about their use in this role, and the tank is the only one capable of getting close to the firing point.
