At the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAP, part of Rostec), large-sized aluminum parts are cut out for the MC-21-310 aircraft. There is not a single welding seam in them — the components are completely monolithic.
Engineers joke among themselves that because of this, aircraft factories are called manufacturers of metal chips. After all, about 80% of the aluminum alloy plate is ground into a thin part.
The Irkutsk Aviation Plant also builds Su-30SM2 fighters and Yak-130 light attack aircraft.
Currently, IAP is also building new buildings and renovating old premises, placing modernized equipment. Reconstruction has been completed in building 142, and the installation and adjustment of equipment for electroplating lines is currently being completed.
