Artificial intelligence should not replace students' own thinking and interfere with the assimilation of knowledge. This statement was made by the First Deputy Minister of Education of Russia Alexander Bugaev at the rally of the World Youth Festival in Nizhny Novgorod.
According to him, the use of neural networks when doing homework "primarily prevents the student from mastering the material, developing the brain and improving knowledge." The official noted that digital technologies are important and useful, but they should remain only a tool, and not replace the learning process.
The discussion about the role of artificial intelligence in education is now underway around the world. In the US and Europe, schools and universities are looking for a balance between bans and the introduction of technology. Somewhere they are forbidden to use ChatGPT, and somewhere, on the contrary, they are taught how to use neural networks correctly. The topic is especially relevant in Russia: schoolchildren quickly master new tools, and teachers are faced with the challenge of how to maintain interest in independent work.
