Rosatom to Significantly Increase AI Usage in Digital Strategy by 2027

The State Corporation will also increase investments in domestic software and electronics, and take data centers to foreign markets

The State Corporation Rosatom has updated its Unified Digital Strategy until 2027 and has planned a multiple increase in projects using artificial intelligence in all areas of business. This was reported by the company's press service, specifying that the document has been agreed with the Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. This concerns a large-scale digital transformation that will affect production sites, including nuclear power facilities in Russia. In particular, digital technologies are planned to be used in the construction of nuclear power plants as part of the general scheme for the placement of energy capacities until 2042. The strategy was updated taking into account new methodological recommendations for state-owned companies. The main emphasis is on the introduction of domestic solutions and the expansion of digital products both within the country and in foreign markets.

Export of Digital Services and Growth of Investments in Russian Software

The company intends to actively enter the foreign market with digital products. This concerns the services of data processing centers and other IT solutions that can be supplied together with nuclear power plant construction projects abroad. Source: press service.

The financial benchmark of the strategy is to increase the volume of investments in Russian software and radio-electronic products by almost a quarter. Specific amounts are not disclosed.

Import Substitution and Implementation of ERP System

A separate block of the strategy is related to the transition to domestic digital solutions. The main emphasis is placed on import substitution of software and radio electronics.

The Unified Digital Strategy retains key areas of development, focusing on import substitution of software and radio-electronic products. In particular, work will continue on the creation and implementation of a "heavy class" ERP system based on domestic solutions
Evgeny Abakumov, Director of Information and Digital Technologies at Rosatom

Under the "heavy class" ERP are understood systems that automate the key business processes of large industrial companies - from production management to financial accounting.

The updated strategy has been agreed with the relevant departments and brought into line with the current requirements for the digital transformation of companies with state participation.

In related industries, similar approaches are already being applied by large industrial holdings, but Rosatom stands out for its scale - digitalization simultaneously affects energy, construction and international projects. At the same time, the integration of AI into NPP construction processes is directly related to safety and quality control requirements.
