Simulators for preparing for flights to the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) and the new manned transport spacecraft should be put into operation one year before the expected start of the station's operation, TASS was told by Hero of Russia, Acting Head of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center Oleg Kononenko. The modernization of the center continues, and it cannot be delayed, as crews must be trained on the new equipment in advance. If the operation of the ROS begins in 2029, the simulators must be ready as early as 2028. Previously, the launch of the first ROS module from Baikonur with an inclination of 51.6 degrees was scheduled for 2028, and the first crew of the new station will be the ISS astronauts when the modules are undocked.
Preparing Simulators for ROS and PTK
The simulators are being created to train crews to work on the new ROS modules and the manned transport spacecraft (PTK). Their commissioning will allow astronauts to master all systems and procedures in advance before the actual operation of the station.
