Europe Left Without Russian Hafnium: Rosatom Finds New Buyers for Rare Metal

Chepetsky Mechanical Plant Concluded More Than 10 Contracts for Deliveries to Asia

Chepetsky Mechanical Plant (ChMP) and Rosatom MetalTech have concluded more than 10 export contracts for the supply of Russian hafnium to countries in South and East Asia. Until recently, up to 95% of exports went to European consumers, but now the geography of supplies has changed dramatically, the company said.

ChMP is the only enterprise in Russia that produces hafnium and its based alloys. Compounds of this metal are critical for the production of microelectronics, semiconductors, optics and lasers.

Expanding our presence in the dynamically developing market of Asian countries means strengthening Russia's position in high-tech supply chains. Having ensured the needs of the domestic market, today we act as a development partner for leading sectors of the global economy, offering in-demand products to technological leaders.
Sergey Chineykin, General Director of ChMP
