Geoscan Presents Russia's First Operating System for Educational Drones, "PioneerOS"

The system allows programming the drone and working with data without the cloud, providing local on-board computing

Geoscan has introduced PioneerOS, a specialized operating system for educational drones. Source — the company's press service. The OS comes with the Geoscan Pioneer Mini 2 copter and is available for the Geoscan Pioneer with the installation of an additional module. PioneerOS enables the drone to operate through functional blocks, including flight control, programming, and data analysis. The main feature of the system is on-board computing, without accessing cloud services, which increases the stability and security of operation.

Functions and Capabilities of PioneerOS

The system supports simultaneous interaction of multiple applications with the camera and autopilot, allowing for the construction of multi-process scenarios. The Pioneer Code web platform opens via a browser over Wi-Fi and provides tools for creating control algorithms, analyzing telemetry, and processing images.

The service architecture allows individual elements to be automatically restarted in case of failures, without interrupting the operation of the entire system.

The company notes that PioneerOS streamlines the tools for working with the drone, sets a unified software standard, and allows the teacher to build educational scenarios without complex technical preparation.
