The most modern domestic aircraft engines developed and manufactured by UEC are fifth-generation engines. The PD-8 and PD-14 aircraft engines are not just the next models in the United Engine Corporation (UEC) product line; they are key elements of the strategy to ensure the technological independence and competitiveness of Russian aviation.
The development of aviation gas turbine engines is associated with the use of various materials and technologies in their design.
Successfully completed research and development made it possible to start production of fifth-generation engines. Significant improvements have been made to the main parameters: the turbine is now capable of operating at temperatures up to 1850-1900K, the two- or three-shaft compressor has achieved a 25-50-fold increase in pressure with a reduced number of stages, and the bypass ratio has been increased.
The first domestic civilian representative of the fifth generation is the PD-14, which will be used on the MC-21-310 mainline aircraft and other machines of this family. The PD-8 and PD-35 engines being developed by UEC also belong to the fifth generation, intended for use on regional and short-haul, as well as long-haul airliners, respectively.
The sixth generation of aircraft engines will differ not only in increased efficiency, but also in the introduction of innovative designs. These include distributed, variable cycle, open rotor engines, as well as hybrid and electric power plants. Significant progress is expected from the close integration of engines with the aircraft itself.
Earlier www1 reported that strategic aviation of Russia: Tu-95MS and Tu-160 are waiting for modernization, Tu-22M3 is not lagging behind.
