Russian T-90M "Breakthrough" tanks have improved armor, and the risk of ammunition detonation has been reduced thanks to internal insulation of ammunition. The combat vehicles are equipped with new "Arena-M" active protection.
The "Arena-M" system includes a radar that continuously monitors the surrounding environment. The complex can intercept targets flying at speeds of up to 1000 m/s at a distance of up to 50 meters.
When an approaching means of destruction is detected, it automatically tracks it, calculates the trajectory, and uses protective ammunition to intercept and destroy the threat.
The firepower of the "Breakthrough" significantly exceeds its predecessors — the new autoloader and gun allow the use of longer armor-piercing discarding sabot projectiles with much greater armor penetration.
In addition, the T-90M is much lighter and smaller than its Western competitors, which makes it difficult to hit and makes the tank more maneuverable.
