New Generation "Volga" May Start Production in 2026 - But That's Not Certain

The new passenger car under the revived brand "Volga" may start production in the spring of 2026. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.

As far as I know, as far as I have been informed, they expect to start the first stages of assembly and production by the spring of next year.

The new generation "Volga" could have been producedjointly with GAC, but these negotiations did not lead to concrete results. The Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) denied its role in the revival of the legendary "Volga" model, stating that the project is being implemented by the company "Passenger Car Production" as an independent legal entity, not part of the GAZ structure and not associated with the "GAZ Group."

As a reminder, a new line of Volga cars was presented in the spring of 2024. They were created based on Changan, but the project was never implemented.
