Changes were required to install Russian systems and units

Specialists from PJSC «Yakovlev» (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of Rostec) modified the airframe for the production of the import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft, according to Sergey Kuznetsov, the chief designer of the aircraft.

According to him, obtaining approval for the Main Change to the type certificate regarding the updated design allowed for the production of the airframe according to serial design documentation.

The modification of the airframe was required for the installation of Russian systems and units, as well as to simplify the production process and maintenance of the aircraft.

On Friday, August 5, the first flight of the import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft with tail number 97004 took place. The aircraft is equipped with fully domestic systems and units, including PD-8 engines.
