Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant (KEMZ Concern) conducted the first flight tests of the new five-seat AP-55 helicopter with a coaxial rotor system, the company's press service reported.
All systems functioned without any issues, and the tests were carried out as normal. The AP-55 demonstrated predictable behavior in the air during approach and stable control.
As a result of the stage, the operability of the technical solutions incorporated in the project has been confirmed. The flight test program will be expanded according to the approved schedule.
The AP-55 helicopter is equipped with a Rolls-Royce Model 250-C20 gas turbine engine with a capacity of 450 hp. However, for mass production, the use of this engine is unacceptable, so in the future it will be replaced with a domestic gas turbine analogue. Which one exactly is still unknown.
The cost of the AP-55 helicopter starts from 2 million dollars. Roman Gusarov, editor-in-chief of the Avia.ru portal, stated that at this price, the machine is absolutely not competitive with foreign counterparts, including American Robinson.
Earlier www1.ru reported that China will not take off without the PD-35: it has no other engine for the wide-body C-929.
