UAZ has announced the expansion of its production. Now, the company will independently produce not only safety systems (airbags, steering wheels, and seatbelts) but also electronic engine control units. This was announced by the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region, Alexey Russkikh.
A new production facility for safety systems will open at the UAZ site by the end of this year… And another unique production facility for engine control units. There are practically no such production facilities in Russia. And it was precisely the lack of engine control units in 2022, when sanctions were introduced, that limited the output of assembly lines at automobile plants in the Russian Federation.
According to Alexey Russkikh, the company will soon release a new pickup model. It also became known that the Sollers pickup assembly line at UAZ is capable of producing about 20,000 vehicles per year. This figure is twice the previously stated capacity.
