Russian military personnel have begun using Krasnopol high-precision artillery projectiles with Orlan-30 drone target designators.
The illumination was provided by an unmanned aerial vehicle. Thanks to the guidance, the 54 kg projectile with a maximum range of 26 km hit the target accurately.
The commander of the 2S19 howitzer, Marat Sultanov, noted that the Krasnopol projectile comes complete with a standard full charge. The probability of hitting the target is 100% at a firing range of up to 20 km.
The battery commander also noted maneuverability, cross-country ability, and rate of fire as the main advantages of the self-propelled artillery unit over foreign counterparts of the enemy. This advantage is due to the installation of the gun on the chassis of the T-72 tank.
