Starting March 1, 2026, information about the routes of civil drones will be transmitted in real time via the ERA-Glonass system. The solution proposed by the Ministry of Transport aims to create a unified identification system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The cost of the identification service will be 560 rubles per month for drone owners. Access to data will be free for government agencies and emergency services. The amount includes the cost of connection and data transmission at a frequency of once per second.
Maxim Chizhov, CEO of the Drone School, believes that this fee will have a negligible impact on the cost of flights. According to him, this is only 1% of the total costs. Yuri Kozarenko from the company "Transport of the Future" expressed a similar opinion, noting that the use of the existing ERA-Glonass system will help reduce costs.
Alexey Raikevich, CEO of JSC "Glonass", announced the full readiness of the identification system. Tests conducted in 16 regions showed successful integration with various platforms. Importantly, domestically produced drones are already equipped with the necessary trackers.
However, UAV manufacturers face difficulties in integrating identification modules, especially with foreign models. This may slow down the process of equipping drones with the necessary devices.
The identification system should help legal operators separate themselves from illegal ones, which is especially important in the context of current flight restrictions. The introduction of a new system could be a turning point for the civilian drone market, opening up new opportunities for their use in various fields, from agriculture to infrastructure monitoring.
