Severstal is the first company in Russia to develop and master the production of a new import-substituting heat-resistant steel grade SA-387 Gr22 Cl2. This steel is designed for the manufacture of equipment in the petrochemical, chemical and energy industries, including boiler equipment, coke chambers and pressure vessels that operate at temperatures up to 600°C.
SA-387 Gr22 Cl2 is an alloyed chromium-molybdenum steel with high strength and heat-resistant characteristics. It reduces the metal intensity of structures by 15–30% compared to earlier generation steels, such as grade 10Х2М.
The new steel is easy to weld and meets current international standards. The production of rolled products was mastered at the 2800 mill in Cherepovets with a sheet thickness of 8 to 46 mm, and at the 5000 mill with a thickness of up to 110 mm.
The first batch of products was delivered to Severstal's strategic partner, Volgogradneftemash. This allowed the plant to abandon the purchase of imported steel and ensure the production of equipment based on modern Russian materials.
Earlier www1.ru reported that HardUS 400 high-strength steel was created in Russia.
