Construction of a pilot plant will start in the first quarter of 2026

Rosatom State Corporation has announced the launch of a pilot uranium processing plant at the Mkuju River project in southern Tanzania. The official opening took place with the participation of the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev emphasized that the state corporation is introducing modern uranium processing technologies aimed at unlocking Tanzania's geological potential. The pilot complex is located at the Nyota deposit.

The project is designed to test technological processes for uranium processing and develop optimal solutions for large-scale production. The results will form the basis for creating a main processing plant with a capacity of up to 3,000 tons of uranium annually.

Construction will start in the first quarter of 2026, and production is scheduled to begin in 2029.
