In Russia, the Speedtest service from Ookla, which is designed to measure the speed and quality of Internet connections, has been blocked. The blocking occurred in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 127 of February 12, 2020, based on identified threats to the security of the public communication network and the Russian segment of the Internet.
Currently, a domestic solution for checking data transfer speeds and mobile signal levels is available in Russia - the "ProSet" application. It is available for Android devices and is distributed through the RuStore store.
Ookla founder and former CEO Doug Suttles previously noted that simply measuring Internet speed is not enough to fully understand the quality of the connection, introducing an alternative product called Orb.
Earlier,www1.ru reported that Rutubedisappeared from the AppStore.
