The implementation of a comprehensive aviation development program in Russia is associated with a number of difficulties, including the need to identify new suppliers, increased costs, a high workload on defense orders, and limited production capabilities for some components.
Aviation expert Yuri Pronko noted that particular concern is caused by dependence on imports of critical components.
Last year, Russia bought 98% of machine tools abroad. Only 2% are domestically produced. The dependence is huge, there is no replacement.
Aviation expert Andrei Patrakov added that due to smaller production runs, the cost of transportation on domestic aircraft may be higher than on foreign ones, which will put the competitiveness of Russian aviation even in the domestic market in great doubt.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the MS-21 aircraft flew for the first time to test navigation systems as a regular aircraft.
