The essence of the lawsuit between Tatneft and Tupolev, a manufacturer of civil and military aircraft, for 6 billion rubles has become known. According to BUSINESS Online, it is about returning the money that the oilmen paid for the construction of Tu-214 passenger aircraft.
Tatneft owns UvT Aero airline, for which four aircraft were ordered. The first two aircraft were to be received by UvT Aero in October 2024, and the second pair in September 2025.
However, in August 2023, it became known that the initial pair would be transferred to other customers, and the customer was promised two aircraft in 2026 instead.
According to sources, Tupolev returned the money for only one aircraft. Having not received the money for the second aircraft, Tatneft went to court.
The Arbitration Court of Tatarstan previously partially satisfied the claim of Tatneft against Tupolev for more than 6 billion rubles, including penalties.
Tupolev noted in court that they are ready to sign new contracts for Tu-214 aircraft with delivery no earlier than 2027.
PJSC Tupolev builds both military and civil aircraft. Military aircraft include the Tu-22M3 long-range bomber-missile carriers, the Tu-160 strategic bombers, as well as various modifications of the Tu-95. In civil aviation, the company is known for the Tu-204 and Tu-214 aircraft.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia is launching the Il-114-300 to replace the An-24: regional aviation is gaining support.
