Mi-24, Mi-8 and Ka-29 helicopter crews of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation destroyed columns of equipment, manpower and fortifications of a mock enemy during combat training exercises. The maneuvers took place at a training ground in the Kaliningrad region, the fleet's press service reported.
More than 10 crews practiced the use of aviation weapons against ground targets at a distance of 500 m to 2 km. The pilots launched guided missiles, S-8 unguided missiles, and fired from a 23-mm high-rate-of-fire GSh-23 cannon.
A special place in the training program was occupied by flights at low altitudes along specified routes, bypassing difficult sections of the terrain.
The unofficial name of the Mi-24 is "Crocodile." Its production was established in the 1970s, and the helicopter is still being produced.
