Прощай, JAC: «Москвич» на пороге сотрудничества с китайским концерном SAIC

Moscow Plant May Start Assembling SAIC Cars Instead of Current Models

The "Moskvich" car plant may cease production of the "Moskvich 3" and "Moskvich 6" models, and postpone the launch of the "Moskvich 8" crossover. According to Drom.ru, the company is in the final stages of negotiations to change its production partner: instead of the Chinese company JAC, the cars will likely be supplied by the SAIC conglomerate.

The decision to end cooperation with JAC is due to disagreements over the provision of design documentation. This, according to sources, has caused delays in the launch of new models, including the "Moskvich 5" and "8". At the same time, SAIC is already participating in the Atom electric vehicle project, which has strengthened its position as a potential partner.

However, the transition is complicated by American sanctions imposed on MAZ "Moskvich", which is why a scheme with an intermediate legal entity is being discussed to circumvent the restrictions. It is not yet known how the change of partner will affect the fate of the "Moskvich" brand itself and its future models, for the development of which significant resources have been allocated.
