The new Russian PD-8 aircraft engine for the Superjet SJ-100 aircraft and the Be-200 amphibious aircraft is cheaper to operate than its analogues. This was reported by the press service of the Russian government.
This year it will be certified. The engine fully complies with the environmental requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
It is cheaper to operate than its analogues, and the specific fuel consumption in cruising mode is 2–5% better than its analogues.
Alexander Artyukhov, General Director of the United Engine Corporation (UEC), said that four first production engine samples will be manufactured in 2025, and 30 in 2026.
