Russian aviation has finally said goodbye to one of the world's largest aircraft — the An-22 "Antei". This was reported by retired military pilot Fighterbomber.
They are prompting from the hall that the last An-22 "Antei" has been removed from the staff. This, we can say, completes the life of the legendary aircraft. Thank you for your service, veteran!
The "Antei" served in the Military Transport Aviation as part of the USSR, and then Russia — for more than 50 years. Now the aircraft is stored on the territory of the test base of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA).
The An-22 "Antei" had very impressive dimensions for its time — a wingspan of 64.4 m, 57.3 m in length and 12.535 m in height. It could carry up to 290 people without special equipment and 150 paratroopers with equipment.
