The unified identification system for civilian drones based on the state platform "ERA-GLONASS" is technically ready and will be fully deployed by March 2026. This was announced by Alexey Raikevich, CEO of JSC GLONASS, at the Innoprom-2025 forum in Yekaterinburg.
The system is being created jointly with the State Air Traffic Management Corporation and is designed to transmit data from trackers, which all new drones flying within line of sight must be equipped with, starting in March 2025. By March 2026, the requirement will extend to the entire fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The launch of the platform will ensure the transparency of UAV flights and create the prerequisites for lifting restrictions on their use in a number of regions. The system has already undergone pilot testing in 12 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and has shown high efficiency.
According to a similar scheme, more than 500,000 transport units are monitored on the basis of ERA-GLONASS, from public transport to small aircraft and forestry equipment.
