Specialists from the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) expect to reduce the weight of the new MC-21 aircraft through new materials and design changes. This was announced by Anatoly Gaidansky, First Deputy Managing Director of PJSC "Yakovlev" — Director of the Engineering Center.
According to him, all prototypes of the aircraft have been manufactured and are undergoing testing.
We have made some changes to the design of the detachable wing part (DWP) to implement the accumulated experience. We hope to remove several hundred kilograms of mass from the wing, specifically from the wing and tail assembly, and a little from the fuselage wing fairings.
As it became known, during the import substitution work, the MC-21-310 aircraft became heavier by several tons, compared to the non-import-substituted MC-21-300 aircraft.
The aircraft gained almost 6 tons in weight, which worsened its flight characteristics. At full load, the flight range decreased by half, to 2.8 thousand kilometers or even to 2 thousand, which took the aircraft out of the category of medium-range.
Earlier www1.ru stated that thermoplastic materials will appear in the PD-14, PD-8, and PD-35 engines.
