Scammers have come up with a new way to deceive Russians: they pose as employers and extort large sums of money. Victims are users of job search sites who transfer money allegedly to help the employer. This was reported in the press service of VTB.
Such schemes exploit the trust of people who are looking for work. Criminals do not just create the appearance of employment — they artificially form a "boss-subordinate" relationship so that the victim psychologically agrees to their conditions more easily.
VTB reminded that before agreeing to work, check the employer and find the official contacts of the company to make sure it is real.
Do not transfer money, even if the employer promises compensation or a refund. Be careful with suspicious phone numbers — scammers often change them and hide under fictitious names. The bank warns: if the employer requires payment before employment, this is a sign of fraud.
Earlier it became known that scammers are sending voice messages in Telegram to attract the attention of users and offer them to "earn" on simple actions on the Internet — likes. They pose as representatives of large trading platforms.
