Every day, about 50–70 thousand Russians become victims of fraudsters and transfer their money to them. This was stated by Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, at SPIEF.
Approximately 50–70 thousand people daily fall for the tricks of telephone scammers and transfer their funds to fraudsters.
Kuznetsov emphasized that Russians receive about 6-8 million calls every day. In March 2024, there was a peak of activity — 20 million calls per day.
Now it's a little less, but the schemes have become more sophisticated. People have started to believe it more.
According to Sberbank's statistics, of all incoming calls to Russian phones from unknown numbers, about a third are not answered, while two-thirds continue the conversation.
Kuznetsov also reported that Russians weekly lose 1.2 billion rubles due to the installation of fake applications for payment via NFC. Users on Android OS become victims of fraudsters.
