The Aeroflot Group has revised its development strategy and now plans to carry 80 million passengers by 2030, which is 15 million more than initial forecasts. This was announced by the company's CEO, Sergei Alexandrovsky, in an interview with the Russia-24 TV channel.
We had a very long discussion both within the company and at the board of directors level, but nevertheless, we set a goal of 80 million passengers for ourselves. This is higher than in our initial strategy. Back then, we planned to carry 65 million passengers.
A key growth factor will be fleet renewal, primarily through the MC-21 and Sukhoi Superjet New. Aeroflot is already preparing for large-scale maintenance of the new aircraft: it is planned to build additional hangars capable of servicing up to 10 MC-21 aircraft simultaneously. Currently, the company's facilities can service 3 wide-body and 18 narrow-body aircraft on an area of 33,000 square meters.
The current strategy, adopted in December 2022, initially assumed passenger traffic growth to 65 million by 2030 with an annual increase of 6%. However, the plans have now been adjusted upwards, which will require not only new aircraft but also modernization of logistics, digital services, and air traffic management systems.
