From Kazan to St. Petersburg: Unmanned Trucks to Launch on New Route

The initiative will be implemented in 2026

The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has announced plans to scale up the unmanned cargo transportation project to other regions of the country. In 2026, the launch of such trucks is expected on the route from Kazan to St. Petersburg.

The unmanned cargo transportation project has already successfully proven itself on the M-11 highway and is currently being tested on the Central Ring Road (TsKAD). In the future, we will scale it up to other regions of Russia.

Digitization of highways and the creation of unmanned corridors are key areas of joint work between the ministry and the state company "Avtodor." This has become possible thanks to the development of intelligent transport systems based on video cameras and artificial intelligence technologies.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian car fleet has grown to 67 vehicles — how technology is changing logistics.
