Over 1,000 miners registered in the Federal Tax Service register after the legalization of cryptocurrency mining

Presence in the register obliges to provide the state with information on transactions

Presence in the Federal Tax Service register obliges Russian miners to provide wallet addresses and information on transactions to state agencies, as well as report on the received cryptocurrency to Rosfinmonitoring.

Since November 2024, the law on the legalization of cryptocurrency mining has come into force in Russia. From that moment on, the Federal Tax Service (FTS) launched special registers, which must include legal entities and individual entrepreneurs engaged in mining, as well as operators of the corresponding infrastructure.

According to the Federal Tax Service, by the end of May 2025, more than 1,000 miners and operators have already registered in these registers — this is 70% more compared to February. To register, it is enough to submit an application through the electronic service «Mining Register» on the tax service website.

Individuals can continue to engage in mining without registration if their electricity consumption does not exceed 6,000 kWh per month. At the same time, all miners, regardless of status, are required to report monthly on the digital currency received through personal accounts on the Federal Tax Service website.

Registered participants are also required to provide state authorities with addresses of crypto wallets and information on transactions made. Rosfinmonitoring monitors the reporting. Detailed information on inclusion in the register, reporting and taxation is available in a special section of the Federal Tax Service website.
