The Kalashnikov concern has manufactured the first serial batch of 5.45-mm RPL-20 belt-fed light machine guns for the customer. This was announced by Alan Lushnikov, General Director of the defense holding.
He recalled that the RPL-20 is the first belt-fed light machine gun created in the design and technology center of the concern and finalized based on customer recommendations received following military operation.
The light 5.45-mm RPL-20 is designed to engage enemy personnel, fire and transport vehicles. Ammunition is fed from a belt placed in a box that attaches to the machine gun.
The main features of the RPL-20 are the use of a non-detachable belt, the ability to load weapons by pulling the belt without opening the receiver, a folding and length-adjustable telescopic buttstock equipped with a lifting cheek and shoulder rest.
Main technical characteristics of the RPL-20 light machine gun:
- Weight with a long barrel, without a cartridge box, belt, PMS, front handle - no more than 5.5 kg
