Production of a 6-speed automatic transmission, modeled after the Japanese Aisin, is starting in Russia. However, according to sources, localization will be limited to the housing, while the remaining components will be of foreign manufacture. The new automatic transmission is intended not only for Sollers Atlant vans but also for the UAZ "Patriot" SUV. The transmission will be adapted to the "Patriot's" transfer case, which will require changes to the flange design.
The brand and model of the new automatic transmission have not yet been disclosed, but experts suggest that it may be a product of the Chinese company Harbin Dongan Auto Engine (DAAE). This manufacturer supplies 8-speed transmissions for JAC pickups and claims to use Aisin technologies. Although there is no ready-made 6-speed version for rear-wheel drive in the DAAE catalog, it may be a simplified modification of the existing 8-speed automatic transmission.
