The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has recorded an increase in cases of fraud using fake work chats. Attackers create fake groups in messengers, where they pose as employers, and then try to deceive Russians.
Criminals add a person to such a chat, where other fake colleagues convince the victim to perform certain actions. In fact, there may not be a single real person in the chat. The main goal of the fraudsters is to extract authorization codes from government portals and force people to get a fictitious job.
To avoid being deceived, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends paying attention to the composition of the chat participants. If there are no familiar faces in the group, this may be a warning sign. You should also be wary if the messages look too coordinated and staged. Usually there are few participants in such chats, and they all claim to have gone through the "necessary procedure" that they are trying to impose on a potential victim. Be careful and do not trust strangers on the Internet, the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasizes.
