Modernized version of the Soviet legend launched: "Meteor 120R" to be received by Rostov Region

Hydrofoil vessel of Project 03580 is planned to be put on intercity routes

The R.E. Alekseev Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoil Vessels (CDB for SPK named after R.E. Alekseev) has sent a new hydrofoil vessel "Meteor 120R" of Project 03580 to the Rostov Region, the company's press service reported.

Specialists checked the vessel's systems and launched it in Nizhny Novgorod. Now "Meteor 120R" will go to the Rostov Region, where river transportation is being resumed.

In 2023, after a 13-year break, river vessels for passenger transportation began operating again in the Rostov Region. "Valdai" vessels were put on the route along the Don River.

We appealed to the government of the Rostov Region with a request to support the acquisition of several more vessels, including "Meteors". They are necessary for us to ensure entry into water areas in which "Valdai" cannot operate, since there are river sections with marine operating conditions on the Don. We immediately plan to put the "Meteor" on domestic flights, but we are also thinking about intercity routes.
German Lopatkin, General Director of JSC SPC "Don"

The high-speed passenger vessel for river transportation "Meteor 120R" is designed for 116 (120) passengers and is served by a crew of 4 people. The vessel is capable of speeds up to 75 km/h due to the improved new generation wing design.

The passenger cabin is equipped with comfortable aviation-type seats and features panoramic glazing. The new "Meteors" can operate where there is no pier infrastructure, and the waters are characterized by shallow rivers.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the second hydrofoil vessel "Valdai 45R" was launched.
