Scientists from Dartmouth College have calculated that the world's largest companies are responsible for $28 trillion in climate damage. Saudi Aramco and Gazprom topped the list.
Researchers found that 10 oil, gas, and coal companies, including Saudi Aramco, Gazprom, Chevron, and ExxonMobil, caused more than half of this damage.
Saudi Aramco and Gazprom caused over $2 trillion in damage. Each 1% of greenhouse gases emitted since 1990 has led to $502 billion in damage from heat, not including hurricanes, droughts, and floods.
The team, led by Christopher Callahan, working at Stanford, used emissions data from 111 companies over 137 years, modeling their impact on global temperature using 1,000 computer simulations. Chevron's emissions raised the Earth's temperature by 0.025 degrees Celsius. An additional 80 simulations linked emissions to the five hottest days of the year, estimating economic losses.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the damage to the Earth from the destruction of the ISS has been named.
