Avtotor to Curtail Production of Chinese Car Models with Low Demand in Russia

The Kaliningrad plant will cease production of Brock trucks and focus on cooperation with Chery

The Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad will terminate projects with Chinese automakers whose models do not demonstrate stable sales.

The plant will concentrate resources on the most successful lines and abandon brands with limited demand. The list of curtailed projects includes trucks, including electric Brock, created in collaboration with Foton, which did not find a single buyer.

The plant is considering the prospect of launching a joint venture with the Chinese brand Chery. Previously, Jetour crossovers rolled off the Avtotor assembly line, and the Omoda C5 model has already received vehicle type approval (OTTS).

Choosing to cooperate with Chery will allow Avtotor to optimize its product portfolio, increase production load, and offer in-demand cars to the market.
