Russian developers, with the participation of the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI" named after V.I. Ulyanov (Lenin), presented the first domestic endoscope. This was reported in the press service of the university.
Specialists have created a video module. It is equipped with an LED light source (for image formation), a video processor (for signal processing), and software (to increase the information content of images).
The endoscope operates on the basis of virtual chromoendoscopy technology. This method stains the mucous tissues with special dyes, which helps to identify even the earliest pathologies. Unlike foreign analogues, the Russian system offers four image processing modes, including a mode that provides accurate color visualization without distortion.
The new technology significantly increases diagnostic value, making it easier to detect oncological and precancerous changes at an early stage. Currently, work is underway on a software module for the early diagnosis of intestinal metaplasia, a condition associated with the risk of developing stomach cancer.
According to Natalia Obukhova, Head of the Department of Television and Video Technology, the new endoscope already surpasses many foreign solutions, providing a high level of reliability and accuracy.
