Cyberattacks on schoolchildren increased by 70%: fraudsters masquerade as teachers and Unified State Exam services

Experts blame artificial intelligence and the digitalization of education

The active digitalization of the educational process has triggered a wave of cyberattacks on schoolchildren and applicants. According to experts, 34,000 phishing attacks were recorded in the first quarter of 2025, which is 70% higher than the figures for the same period last year. Attackers masquerade as representatives of educational institutions, offering "answers to the Unified State Exam" or demanding access to accounts on "Gosuslugi".

The main schemes include sending letters with threats of "not being allowed to take exams", fake tuition bills, and fake questionnaires to confirm participation in the Unified State Exam. To authorize victims, they are redirected to fake pages stylized as official services. Analysts attribute the increase in attacks to the use of AI, which simplifies the creation of convincing texts and copying the design of educational platforms.

Fraudsters attack not only users, but also the infrastructure for conducting exams. About 10% of cyber incidents are aimed at the Unified State Exam information systems, Informzashchita notes. In 2024, the number of phishing resources quadrupled, and in the spring of 2025, it doubled again. Offers to buy "answers" for 30 thousand rubles are popular.

Experts predict a new wave of fraud due to changes in the rules for the certification of ninth-graders in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Lipetsk, where it is possible to refuse elective exams until April 30.
