The head of the "Probok.net" expert center proposed combining the "Lane Start" and "Lane Direction" signs into one. The introduction of a new road sign will simplify the lives of drivers. The initiative is being considered by the Ministry of Transport.
Reducing the number of road signs is an urgent task, especially in cities where their abundance creates information noise. Many drivers face situations where they cannot predict whether to stay in the left lane or switch to another. Misunderstanding the situation on the road leads to violations of traffic rules. However, the new sign will give a clear understanding of where you can move in each lane, which will reduce the risk of fines and increase road safety.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov, has already sent a request to the ministry to create a new sign. The Ministry of Transport responded positively, but noted that the implementation of the idea would require changes to traffic rules, and not just to GOST. The department promised to assess the feasibility of the innovation.
It is worth recalling that changes have already been made to the GOST on road signs from January 1 next year, including new signs that will help drivers better navigate the road. However, until the new signs are officially approved, drivers will not be held responsible for violating them.
