The head of the "Probok.net" expert center proposed combining the signs "Start of the lane" and "Direction of movement along the lane" into one. The introduction of a new road sign will simplify the lives of drivers. The initiative is being considered by the Ministry of Transport.
Reducing the number of road signs is an urgent task, especially in cities where their abundance creates information noise. Many drivers face situations where they cannot predict whether to stay in the left lane or switch to another. Misunderstanding the situation on the road leads to violations of traffic rules. However, the new sign will give a clear understanding of where you can move in each lane, which will reduce the risk of fines and increase road safety.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov, has already sent a request to the ministry to create a new sign. The Ministry of Transport reacted positively, but noted that the implementation of the idea would require changes to the traffic rules, and not just to the GOST. The department promised to assess the feasibility of the innovation.
Let us remind you that from January 1 next year, changes have already been made to the GOST on road signs, including new signs that will help drivers better navigate the road. However, until the new signs are officially approved, drivers will not be held responsible for violating them.
