In 2012, Russian Railways (RZD) became a participant in the construction of the Vostochny Cosmodrome. Hundreds of thousands of tons of cargo were delivered via steel магистралям to the construction site – Ledyanaya Station of the Trans-Baikal Railway.

The "gateway to space" opened in 2016. In nine years, about two dozen launches have been carried out from the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
