In the Russian automotive market, the first quarter of 2025 (from January to March) saw significantly fewer cars sold than in the same period in 2024. There were 45.5% fewer new cars sold than in March of that year, according to analysts.
The domestic LADA maintains its leading position — March 2025 — 31% (compared to 28% last year). In quantitative terms, this amounts to 25,167 cars sold.
Among foreign brands, Haval leads (2nd place), with 9,790 units sold in March.
In third place is Chery (8,409 cars), followed by Geely (5,134) and Changan (3,787).
In total, 246,934 new passenger cars were sold in Russia in the first quarter of 2025, which is 25.3% less than in the same three months last year.
Looking at growth dynamics, the Solaris brand (renamed Hyundai and Kia models assembled in St. Petersburg) performed the best. According to Avtostat, Solaris sales in the first quarter of this year increased 23-fold compared to the same period last year, totaling 4,013 units. The brand demonstrated the best growth dynamics against the backdrop of the overall market decline.
The second place in terms of sales growth was taken by the products of BelGee — localized Belgee crossovers and Geely sedans. In the first quarter of 2025, sales of cars from the BelGee plant increased by 46.6%.
Chery sub-brands, such as Jaecoo and Jetour, also demonstrated sales growth — by 25.3% and 19%, respectively.
The remaining brands in the top 10, including Lada (15%), Haval (17.1%), Chery (19.2%), Geely (54.6%), Changan (34.3%), and Omoda (37.5%), showed a decrease in sales in the first quarter of 2025. A particularly sharp decline was recorded for Geely — 54.6%.
