Rostec is working on creating new megapixel-class sensors that will significantly improve the performance of thermal imagers. The sensors are fully developed in Russia and will help make devices more compact and easier to use.
Vadim Kalyugin, General Director of Shvabe, said that the new sensors will allow obtaining more detailed images of objects. The development will increase the efficiency of the entire system in the infrared range.
The new sensors use a special material with high thermal sensitivity. The devices will be able to recognize objects even with similar thermal radiation. For example, they will be able to detect a person who is lost in the forest in hot weather.
The development of improved sensors is being conducted by OKB Astron, which is part of the Shvabe holding, with the support of the Russian Science Foundation. The holding has already launched a technological line for the serial production of the new product.
