Russian Scientists Win International Robotics Competition

HSE University team takes first place in all categories of the League of Robot Runners competition

A team from HSE University, consisting of students Egor Yukhnevich and Artem Brezhnev, led by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Anton Andreychuk, took first place in all categories of the League of Robot Runners competition. Participants demonstrated high efficiency of algorithms optimizing robot movement and task allocation.

The team took first place, <...> [including] the main category, in which both tasks were solved simultaneously — planning the actions of robots and distributing tasks between robots.

Anton Andreychuk noted that the solutions developed by the team can significantly improve the organization of warehouse space and optimize the operation of sorting systems.

The League of Robot Runners competition has been held since 2024. It aims to accelerate the development of algorithms for controlling warehouse robots. The uniqueness of the competition lies in the fact that decisions on how robots will act must be made automatically in one second, while the number of robots can reach ten thousand.

This year, the competition was organized by scientists from Monash University in Australia and two American universities: Rutgers and Southern California with the support of Amazon Robotics. Participants from 50 teams from around the world submitted 1,513 attempts to solve problems.
