The Russian operational-tactical missile system «Iskander-M» has begun working in tandem with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The reason for the success of the Russian "deadly system" was explained by Brandon Weichert, a columnist for the American magazine The National Interest (TNI).
The author recalled that the range of the Iskander-M missile does not exceed 500 km, but Russia intends to double this figure.
The speed of these systems is hypersonic, reaching somewhere around Mach 6-7. These missiles have a circular error probable (CEP) of 5 to 7 meters in optical homing mode and a CEP of about 30-70 meters in autonomous flight mode.
The journalist added that the Iskander-M can carry various munitions, in particular cluster, high-explosive fragmentation, volume-detonating, as well as electromagnetic pulse and nuclear weapons.
Russia transports weapons on an eight-wheeled MZKT-7930 chassis, which indicates the high mobility of the system. Each transporter-launcher carries two missiles that can be launched one minute apart and are guided to the target independently of each other.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the modernized BMP-2M surpassed the American Bradley in firing range by two times.
