The effective firing range of the armament of the modernized Russian BMP-2 reaches 8 km, which is twice as much as that of the American Bradley combat vehicle. This was stated in Rostec.
The state corporation recalled that the BMP-2M has the combat power of the BMPT "Terminator", thanks to the "Berezhok" module, "Kornet" missiles, a 30-mm cannon and an automatic grenade launcher. The modernized vehicle is also equipped with a combined sight, a modern digital fire control system and an automatic tracking device.
The BMP-2M can hit a tank, firing point, or concentration of enemy personnel at a range of up to 8 km. Such a "long arm" can only be dreamed of by the American Bradley, whose "limbs" are half as short, despite all its positive qualities.
The BMP-2M is a modification of the BMP-2, which has been in serial production since 1980, with the "Berezhok" combat module, which increases the combat capabilities of the vehicle by approximately four times. In
place of the main sight of the BPK-2-42 gunner, the module received a combined sight with an independent line-of-sight stabilization system in two planes. It combines thermal imaging, optical sighting and laser rangefinder channels, as well as a guided missile guidance channel.
