Specialists from Chelyabinsk State University (ChelSU), in partnership with the Chelyabinsk Higher Military Aviation Red Banner School of Navigators, have created Russia's first airborne bomb that can be carried by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and is capable of detonating at a specified altitude.
The bomb has passed testing and is ready for mass production. There are no analogues in Russia.
Currently, all munitions delivered to the enemy using UAVs are equipped with fuses that are triggered by contact with the surface. Because of this, most of the fragments go into the ground, not into the target.
Detonation at a specified altitude has effectively solved this problem; now, most of the fragments hit the target.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a special automatic shotgun cartridge against UAVs has been developed in Russia.
