Specialists from the "Rosseti" group suppressed 130 cases of illegal connection to power grids and unaccounted electricity consumption. The total damage from the actions of "black" miners in 2024 exceeded 1.3 billion rubles. This was reported by the company's press service.
Materials on the identified violations were transferred to law enforcement agencies, where more than 40 criminal cases were initiated under articles providing for punishment with a real term of imprisonment. The largest amount of damage was recorded at the companies "Rosseti North Caucasus" (over 600 million rubles), "Rosseti Novosibirsk" (400 million rubles), and "Rosseti Center and Volga Region" (120 million rubles).
Mining farms also create a risk of overloading networks.
This is one of the main reasons for low voltage, which can lead to damage to equipment and household appliances. For example, in an ordinary warehouse in the village of Chapaevskoye in the north of Karachay-Cherkessia, energy engineers and law enforcement officers discovered almost 200 systems for mining, which during operation "burned" more than 12 thousand kWh of electricity. The basis for the inspection was a sharp increase in consumption and complaints from residents of neighboring houses.
Various sites were used to accommodate "black" mining farms — from an ordinary container on a rented land plot near Nizhny Novgorod to an underground parking lot in an apartment building in Makhachkala. The largest case was recorded in Novosibirsk, where more than 3.2 thousand mining devices belonging to one owner were identified. The theft of electricity was carried out on an industrial scale, and the damage from this case is estimated at 197 million rubles.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Russia there is an increase in demand for equipment for bitcoin mining.
