Ahead of the start of sales of the Lada Niva Sport, new details about the car have emerged. The main feature of the model is a 122-horsepower 1.6-liter engine with all-wheel drive and an impressive set of improvements.
For example, the top speed compared to a regular production SUV has increased by 20 km/h, and the acceleration time to "hundreds" has improved by 5 seconds! The 1.6-liter 16-valve engine from the "Granta Sport" in combination with all-wheel drive really works wonders.
The new Lada Niva Sport engine, designed to operate at 6500 rpm, demonstrates a maximum power of 122 hp at 5900 rpm. To achieve such characteristics, improvements were made to the intake, exhaust, fuel supply and gas distribution mechanism. The engine controller settings have also been updated.
The improved intake system has increased air flow and ensured uniform filling of the cylinders with the air-fuel mixture. This improved engine performance, increasing its power and torque. In addition, the improved fuel system provides precise delivery of the required amount of fuel.
The modernization also affected the height of the cams and the phase — it became wider (4 degrees were added to the opening and closing phases of the valves). Special injectors were installed on the Lada Niva Sport, which are 38% more efficient.
The valves themselves, thanks to the new shape of the camshaft cams, received an increased stroke: for the intake valve it is 1.95 mm, for the exhaust valve — 1.55 mm. It would seem that these are insignificant figures, but in the matter of forcing the engine, this also plays a role.
The new Lada Niva Sport engine was successfully tested at the Silk Way Rally. The editor-in-chief of the magazine "За рулем" (Behind the Wheel), Maxim Kadakov, previously suggested that the cost of the domestic SUV in retail sales would be about 1.6 million rubles.
