Almost 3.5 tons of wire and 4.5 tons of flux were used for two circumferential welds

Workers at Atommash (part of Rosatom) have completed welding the upper semi- корпус of the reactor for the El-Dabaa NPP being built in Egypt. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.

Almost 3.5 tons of wire and 4.5 tons of flux were used for two circumferential welds. It took 20 days to weld the semi- корпус for the second power unit.

The reactor корпус is a key element of equipment at any NPP, the reliability of which determines the service life of the station itself.

Thanks to new metallurgical and welding technologies, the service life of reactors has been increased to 60-80 years (for generation 3+ reactors). In the future, the use of non-traditional materials will extend their service life to 100 years.
